Things To Do In Woking

Woking is a large town that is part of the Greater London Urban Area and can almost be considered a part of that metropolis. You are in Woking after just 24 minutes if you catch a train from Waterloo, the Surrey town which goes back to periods before the 8th century, when it first became the site of a monastery. The modern town came into being after the railway lines were built to that area over 150 years ago. The War of the Worlds novel by H. G. Wells, a science fiction novel which had aliens from Mars invading the Earth is set in Woking.

In Woking you can find convenient shopping, historic villages and a lot of entertainment that can make any visit to that town very interesting. A short visit must have you looking at the Lightbox which is a museum and art gallery that has won a lot of awards. The children will be most entertained if you take them to The Big Apple family entertainment complex. And you can always take in a show at The Ambassadors while the children enjoy their bowling, soft play area and the Laser quest games. Visit the monthly farmers market for some unusual buys.

Woking was first chosen as a cemetery site more than 150 years ago and a lot of land was purchased by the authorities in London for the purpose.
